Consumer Directed Services (CDS) - Empowering Independence and Choice

Consumer Directed Services (CDS) is a vital and life-changing Medicaid-funded program that has been instrumental in enhancing the lives of disabled and elderly individuals in Missouri. This program offers a profound and empowering opportunity for those in need to regain control over their daily activities by enabling them to hire their own caregivers.

A Collaborative Partnership

CDS emphasizes collaboration between the individual receiving care and their chosen caregiver. This partnership encourages open communication, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to achieving the highest standards of care. By involving recipients in the caregiver selection process, CDS not only empowers individuals to find the most suitable match but also creates a foundation for a strong and lasting relationship that can enhance overall well-being.

Supporting Daily Activities with Care and Compassion

One of the primary objectives of CDS is to assist disabled or elderly individuals in carrying out their essential daily activities. These activities encompass a wide spectrum of tasks that might vary from person to person. Whether it is help with bathing, dressing, meal preparations, medication management, or household chores, CDS allows individuals to find the caregiver who is most qualified and compatible for the task at hand.
CDS has consistently proven its worth by facilitating an environment where care services are tailored to meet the specific needs of the recipients. This, in turn, improves the quality of life and encourages individuals to retain their independence for as long as possible.
